Lighting |Design & Technology gets involved in projects of all sizes. Here we show a selection of small and medium sized projects and some older projects of interest.
International Slavery Museum, Liverpool - opened 2007
This museum is housed on one complete floor of the existing Maritime Museum on the Albert Dock. The lighting was designed to provide varied mood and atmosphere as visitors move through the galleries depicting the history of the slave trade in various parts of the world.
The Chester Beatty Library, Dublin European Museum of the year 2001.
The extensive collection of documents, sacred and secular art works and artefacts, from 2700 BC to the present century, opened in Spring 2000 in a new exhibition complex in part of Dublin Castle. It had been displayed on a site on the outskirts of Dublin. This new building has allowed a greater scope for display of the extensive collection and much easier access to the collections by the public.
Manchester City Art Gallery
We worked with the designers Casson Mann on the fit-out of the Theatre and Manchester galleries on this large lottery funded project. The Manchester Gallery is a large new space where an exciting display of Manchester life and its people is shown with many mixed displays both in cases and on open display. The Theatre gallery is a more complex space where we have had a big input into the design of the unusual cases. Opened May 2002
Rochdale Arts & heritage centre - Touchstones
We have been working on the design of this refurbished arts and museum centre for some years during various Lottery application phases. It has now been on site for some time and the main infrastructure is now almost complete. Work on the museum fit-out will start in the new year. Opened summer 2002.
